THE PROBLEM
I love marketing all my books all the time …
…said no author ever.
You became an author to write books, not to market them.
Yet the reality is that book marketing is the key thing that authors have to do to maintain their writing income, even if they are traditionally published.
Most book marketing focuses on launching newly-published books, which leads to “all or nothing” urgency to maximize book sales in a short period of time.
This throwing all your efforts on the launch mindset can cause you to neglect your backlist titles, assuming they have no further potential.
It’s also possible (and surprisingly common!) that your book never sold to its potential when it was new, which might lead you to believe “this book just isn’t good enough, and it will never sell.”
The truth is you loved that book and were disappointed with the poor sales, and you still want to share it with readers.
Unfortunately, when older books are ignored, they quickly sink into obscurity, losing rankings on popular book sales sites. Not marketing these older titles means you are losing out on book sales every day.
And at the risk of sounding horribly cliché, the cure for boosting your backlist is really very simple.
With a few simple marketing strategies that can be implemented in a few hours every month, authors can continue to promote and sell their books for years.
Offensive unpopular opinion incoming…
The truth is that the publishing industry pushes what's new over books that still have a tremendous amount of value, and
There’s no expiration date for most books.
The idea that you can quit marketing old books when a new one launches is completely bananas, unrealistic, wrong, and potentially harmful.
What if we could change our relationship with marketing books? Rather than having a one-and-done mindset, we focus on the full list — one bite at a time.
Selling your full list of books means consistent effort, proven strategies, and helpful tools.
Over the years, I’ve marketed many books, and helped authors understand how to create and maintain momentum.
The benefits of nurturing your older book(s) are:
New readers who can discover your work for the first time
Backlist marketing generates ongoing sales for all of the books in your catalog
Continuous sales of your books will improve your chance of getting future publishing, licensing, and rights deals
A long-term perspective with small steps every month can help you maintain a sense of hope and motivation, even when it seems like the publishing industry is ignoring you
Rather than relying solely on new releases, you can build a sustainable writing career over time
I’ve been marketing books for thirty years and know first-hand how much having a “deep bench” can help fund a publishing program. I have dozens of effective promotions and strategies. Problem is…it’s overwhelming to sort through them. How do you even know where to start?
That’s when I had the idea to create a no-fuss subscription where I’d drop one of my strategies and tools each month (with a short training) and help you turn all that vague marketing energy into knowledge you can put to work?
So I did.
That’s why I'm over the moon to bring you...

Frequently Asked Questions.
Do I need to do social media?
At a minimum, an author needs a home on the web, which usually means a website, email newsletter, and at least a small social media presence. All these strategies will help you work the platforms you have already created.
Can I use this for any kind of book?
Yes! Every issue will include resources that work for any genre. If we are featuring a genre (say Romance)-specific promotion, we’ll always include a secondary strategy to make sure it will work for any kind of audience.
Can I use this with my team?
Yes! If you have a marketing assistant, you can definitely share the strategies and tools to help them help you!
You could keep letting your post-launch books languish and leave publishing profits on the table…
Or you can take the small but mighty step into the world of one-step-at-a-time consistent marketing and finally establish the ongoing practice you know you need to build your writing business for the future.
And for those of you already deep in marketing, you’ll learn fresh, new strategies, and discover new marketing platforms to grow your business every month.
I can’t wait to help!

"Julie's knowledge base is wide. Her guidance and direction are invaluable. She was able to cut to the bottom of the mounds of things I do that waste my time, and give me a clear, decisive path to pave. She gave me actual tools to put in place to make a difference in what I do and reach more readers. More than all of this, she's warm and so much fun to talk with. I will recommend her to every author I know!" - Laura Ranger, author
